Executive Search Recruiter Job Description

1. A word on Recruiting and use of language skills at TMT

Executive Search at TMT involves introducing primarily Japanese executives and senior professionals into our mostly foreign capitalized clients. Most of these candidates we introduce should speak English, and since most of the executives we deal with at our client companies also speak English, it is possible for foreign Recruiters or Consultants (basically interchangeable titles) without good Japanese to succeed and make a contribution. Extremely strong, bilingual Japanese ability in a Gaijin Consultant is a plus, as long as there is the required assessment of the Japanese candidatefs English skills. Strong English skills of Japanese Recruiters working at TMT are a plus, to fit in better, and for internal communications and client relations.

2. Essence of eWhatfs the Job?f

Although TMT has tens of thousands of candidates in our state-of-the-art data- base, recruiters at TMT need to know how to do a search. This may involve the ability to research and identify who the best people are at the clientfs competing firms. A Recruiter at TMT must be able to take initiative in developing clients, understand the client's needs, be able to meet with strong candidates who meet those needs, adjust or create a good resume, have enough trust and respect from candidates and the client to arrange a successful interview between them, facilitate, and build a relationship between the client and the candidate, keep this entire process properly entered in the data base, oversee and assist the salary negotiation, and make sure the people we introduce can successfully and smoothly leave their former employer. Even though, because you succeeded with one such placement you have another million yen, or more, salted away in your bank account, you need to be the type of person who wants to repeat this process even faster and more effectively-and keep repeating it, even though you now have more money saved than you may have ever dreamed possible. If this is not you, it does not make much sense to continue reading.

3. Self-introspection and self-awareness-Are you sure you want this job?

The successful Executive Search Consultant at TMT must have an innate business sense, a good memory, be well organized, a good time manager/hate to dribble away and waste time, not let people waste your time, be a good, sharp, mature team player with a pleasant enough personality, but also must be a self-starter who can take initiative, and find his or her own way. You canft be someone who needs to be spoon fed, always led, and always trained. TMT has excellent training materials, manuals and tip sheets to be carefully read and reviewed. Unfortunately there will not always be someone working with you and supervising you. You will often need to find, and ask at your initiative for something big to work on. You will also need to develop your own projects. The kinds of Executive Search Consultants we need are more excited by this than scared-off by this. People in this job must prefer to work hard. They need to be people who will work just as hard when there is no supervisor around. They need the wisdom of knowing that at TMT, and in life, they are their own bosses. They are people who realize the harder one works, the easier and more fun onefs work becomes. They are too engaged to look at the clock. When they do look, and expect it to be 4:00 PM, they are a little amused, but also disappointed that it is already 7:30 P.M. Until they line-up and make an appointment with the right candidate to fill the job, they donft want to go home that night. They focus and take pride in lining up 2 or 3 excellent candidates for any position within 2 or 3 days. Most candidates can only meet in the evenings, and the successful recruiter will work full throttle until 8:00 PM, and have some follow-up telephone work from home. The good news is that if you can meet one good pre-telephone-screened candidate per day, send two good resumes to clients a week, and do the right professional job of arranging four client interviews per month, and professionally following up, you will make one placement a month.

4. How much money can I make?

One placement a month should be your goal, and should be possible in your second year with TMT. This would mean earning at least 30,000,000 yen for TMT, and at least 50% of that, or 15,000,000 yen in personal salary income. If the executives you place were at a higher salary level, the respective amounts would be much more than this. TMT provides you with a rich reward system that is a combination of mostly individual, but also some group-based incentives. As you and the company earn more revenue for TMT, various bells and whistles kick in. Suffice it to say that even if you earned 80,000,000 yen in revenue for TMT, in your third or fourth year here, you would still earn at least 40,000,000 yen, or at least 50% of your gross revenue contribution in personal salary and incentives.

5. Working for a purpose bigger than yourself, and keeping yourself motivated

Money alone will not make us happy, however money does more good than harm. High revenue earnings on your part mean you have brought value and helped our clients, and hopefully positively changed the lives of the candidates you introduce. You will find that compared to how hard most people work in Japan, America, and many other places, usually for much lower return, you will not have to work so hard at TMT to support yourself. However, just supporting yourself and getting by does not greatly help many candidates, our clients who need good people, or TMT. TMT is looking for hungry people who want to spend or save a lot of money - people who have goals, dreams, a plan to spend their money on. This is a great opportunity to quickly pay back college loans, buy real estate, take better care of your family, get money to start your dream business, buy that yacht, design that swimming pool, also try a stint at one of our worldwide Glasford International Partners, or just nest away a lot of money and peace of mind for the future. Unlike most of our competitors in the recruiting field, salary portion paid at TMT each month is NOT DEDUCTED from the rich incentives you earn. This means that if you donft earn around 30,000,000 yen or more for TMT, the ratio of your personal income to your sales revenue generated can be 70% or 80% or much more. You must feel really bad when you realize you have been paid more than you have earned for your teammates and TMT. You need to want to reverse that situation as soon as possible. You need to realize that on this planet, or any planet, few beings can be in a position such that their rewards long exceed their service.

6. About TMT and handling of your application-if TMT canft move ahead this time, please apply again in the future

TMT was founded in 1978, and has been a leader in Japan in various personnel/labor consulting and human resource fields for many years. Please study our website at www.tmt-aba.com. Note that we are only looking to build up our recruiting Consultants and related administrative staff. Please only email or fax (3221-0601) us with as complete a resume as possible-hopefully with picture. We will give priority to resumes of applicants who indicate a specific relevant reason why they want to work in (or continue working in) the recruiting field at TMT. Although experience in executive search is not as important as brains, enthusiasm, and hustle, we are confident that TMT is also an ideal corporate culture where high-powered, experienced recruiting Consultants can work independently, be happy, thrive, and enjoy higher earnings than at any other executive search operation in Japan. They can also retain more personal earnings, and have an easier time with us, than going into this business solely on their own. TMT has decided to contract to run this ad on a steady basis. Depending on our situation and timing, our immediate needs for a number of Recruiters will vary. Very sorry, but we may not be able to reply to all applicants. You may be of great interest to us, however, although we generally need good people, at times all of our available desks and computers are taken. Please keep this in mind. Because you applied to us once does not mean that years, a year, several months, or even just a couple months later, we will not be in a better position to move ahead and hire you. Please do not hesitate to apply again later on. Very sorry about this situation, and please bear with us.

7. Please do some soul searching, or maybe ask those you trust, or former colleagues or bosses who cared about you, whether they think you can succeed at this kind of sales oriented/make-the-deal-happen-type challenge

Not everyone can sufficiently succeed at TMT, and close enough placements. Activities only waste time, effort, and money on the part of the client, candidates, and TMT. An ability to make placements happen, and close on them is the only thing that counts. That is also where you make the big exciting bucks. To avoid in advance making the wrong decision about applying to TMT, please carefully and thoughtfully read the above. Please do some self-examination, and maybe also ask your friends, family, or former colleagues if they think the Recruiting Consultant position at TMT is the right kind of job for you, where you can really shine and excel. Maybe let a couple of these trusted people who care about you read this job description. Reassure them that you want to hear their frank view. TMT put a lot of effort into this job description exercise to give you a better than normal chance to make a knowledgeable, best possible judgment decision in this important step in your working career and life.

P.S. A couple points of a lower level nature, but a critically realistic TMT corporate culture dimension:

1. TMT has a brief compulsory attendance, eWhatfs new?f/cover announcements/schedule client meetings etc.-type meeting of all staff every morning SHARP at 9:00 AM.

2. TMT requires conservative business attire, at least as professional looking as our senior candidates and clients. Everyday should/could be a full-steam-ahead third party client/candidate meeting day - anyway no casual Fridays at TMT.
